Brolly Arts, the Great Salt Lake Institute at Westminster College, and Friends of Great Salt Lake joined with the Institute for Figuring to create the Lake Bonneville Reef (LBR) project. This community project utilizes the techniques of hyperbolic crochet to create a coral reef as it may have existed in ancient Lake Bonneville. The site specific installation is built from separate pieces/elements created by community members and artists. LBR is designed to increase awareness of environmental issues affecting our bodies of water, namely that of plastic and global warming.
Brolly Arts worked with inFluxdance to create and present this project that highlights the history and future of protest and challenges the notion of equality and discrimination. From this pilot project, a large scale multi-partner Justice For Some will be presented Fall 2012.
